Kurt Langer is Christchurch, New Zealand based Interior design photographer specialising in both residential and commercial interiors.

Kurts practice is marked by acute attention to detail through every stage of the process, from the framing of a shot to the careful retouching of eyesores and imperfections. His images rely on graphic composition for visual impact, using soft, natural light whenever possible.  During production, he takes a collaborative, ego-free approach to image-making, valuing the give and take between photographer and client that is essential to any successful architectural shoot.

Maintaining the integrity of the designer in each photograph is his goal. His job is to ensure the space looks inviting. Sometimes existing accessories translate well through the lens and other times they do not; less is more. More often than not, the shot needs to be “staged.” A stack of books on the table need to be moved to a different corner or the pillows on the sofa need to go to the chair. Whatever it might be, he will preserve the overall feel of the space, while making sure what needs to be highlighted is highlighted.
