Personal Headshot Portraiture

Personal Headshot Portrait Photographer Christchurch, New Zealand.

Either as a gift for your family or a special friend, or simply for social media. My headshot photography is much more than just a pretty picture.

It's an exciting and enjoyable experience. There is no pressure to 'smile for the camera' - by chatting and enjoying ourselves, the smiles come naturally and, over the course of the shoot, we will get a variety of different moods for you to choose your favourite(s).

You're welcome to have your headshot taken in my studio or choose your favourite park, beach, or any place you like. Your family home is an excellent option; it's comfortable, personal, and accommodating for changing outfits if need be.

My focus is on beautifully presented, high-resolution digital images so you can get prints of any size on any medium you choose anytime in the future, or share on social media. I also offer high-end pieces of artwork for your walls, mantelpiece or bedside cabinets.

I always work with maximum passion and professionalism to capture the emotion, the details, and the love in photos. You are guaranteed custom-made work of the highest quality. I would love to hear from you; please feel free to get in touch for more information.

General Price Guide:

For a simple but great headshot, my fee is $345. This includes 1 edited high-resolution image.

For a portrait with longer time spent to get the amazing image of your dreams with a couple of different outfit changes if you choose and different ideas = $545.

Most often, one picture is really enough and is all you will use, as we take our time to carefully pick to be reassured that it is the best picture. And there is always one that is the best and the one you will probably only use. I pride myself on giving great after-sales service, so if there are even a few or all of the images that you really want, you get them as well.

Extra Info:

Booking - You're very welcome to make a time to meet up briefly in advance, under no obligation, so I can help you plan your session in person. If time or distance is not easy, then we can chat via phone / email. Upon booking, you will be required to pay the full amount up to 48 hours in advance via internet banking or at the start of our session in cash. I provide a 100% money-back cancellation fee. So do not worry if you are not feeling well or the weather is terrible and you need to postpone or cancel. On the day of the photo session, we will meet at the location you have chosen, and the fun will begin.

What to wear - Wear what you, your family and friends think you look best in. If you're not quite sure, bring 2 or 3 tops, and extra bling. Go with your vibe. Try to have no big creases in the tops. Tough to photoshop out, especially if they are patterned. Best to check prior and iron if need be. If a crease does appear, you can easily iron it here.

Hair and Makeup - Totally up to you. How you like. If you are not sure, I can recommend and organise the best makeup artist & hairstylists I know in this town. $150 for makeup or $190 for hair and makeup. You may want to visit your hairdresser / makeup store just prior to the shoot for a quick style, or feel confident getting a friend or just doing it all yourself.

The session - Expect the entire session to be around half to an hour, but it's so much fun it seems very quick. We chat for a few minutes, then jump right into it. We tether to a computer, so after a few shots we look at the screen and work out if what you are wearing is the right thing, or if we change tops, ties or necklaces and see what looks better. We also check your hair, body, posture, face angles, expressions, etc., and aim to improve if need be. It's quite a cool experience for you. We may be very happy with what we got, or we shoot some more till we get the shot. We then sit down on a large monitor and pick our favourites.

After the session - I get on to tweaking your pictures. I start with a crop, then colour and exposure balance, clean up dust, hair and marks on clothing, take out pimples and lessen wrinkles if you like. The post-production (editing on the computer afterwards) is crucial to have an awesome picture. These days it makes or breaks what a good photographer is. Some photographers go overboard, and you don’t look real but look like you did it on a terrible skin-softening app. Some photographers don’t do anything, and that usually ends up with you having dark pink skin. I make you look great!

My goal is to provide you with your picture(s) within 72 hours.

Here is a helpful wikiHow link aimed at business portraits, but a lot of it crosses over to personal portraits. Do take it lightly, as if you do turn up feeling rough, I'll still make you look super smooth - How to prepare for a business portrait

Prints & Enlargements:

You can order basic reprints and enlargements easily through me for only what the lab charges for printing. This is an amazing after-sales service that I fully recommend. So roughly a 6x4 inch reprint = $1, 5x7 inch = $3, A4 / 8x12 / 8x10 inch) size print = $10, etc.

If you're after getting great quality photo prints yourself, then I only recommend going to Kens Cameras on Victoria Street. If you do choose to order at Kens, I can meet you there to help you choose what images you would like printed, what size, and what medium (such as prints you can frame, canvas, metal, acrylic, etc.). Or just pop in yourself, as they are very helpful and have samples and sizes, and no obligation to get any printing done if you’re still deciding.
