Personal Headshot Portraiture

Personal Headshot Portrait Photography Christchurch, New Zealand.

Either for a gift for your family or special friend, or simply just for social media. My headshot photography is much more than just a pretty picture.

It's an exciting and enjoyable experience. There is no pressure to 'smile for the camera' - by chatting and enjoying ourselves, the smiles come naturally and, over the course of the shoot, we will get a variety of different moods for you to choose your favourite(s).

You are welcome to have your headshot taken in my studio or choose your favourite park, beach, any place you like. Your family home is an excellent option; it's comfortable, personal, and accommodating for changing wardrobes if need be. I can come and set my portable studio up in a jiffy, and or use your natural home surroundings.

My focus is on beautifully presented high resolution digital images for you to get any prints of any size on any medium you choose to have anytime in the future, or share on social media. I also offer high end pieces of artwork for your walls, mantle piece or bedside cabinets.

I always work with maximum passion and professionalism to capture the emotion, the details, and the love in photos. You are guaranteed custom-made work of the highest quality. I would love to hear from you; please feel free to get in touch for more information.

Check out this well written link on what is an environmental portrait.

Most often one picture is really enough and is all you will use as we take our time to carefully edit / cull / pick to be reassured that is the best picture. And there is always one that is the best and the one you will probably only use. I pride myself on giving great after sales service so if there is even a few more that you really want you get them as well for free. they won't be edited but you can always ask me in the future to do so.

There is no extra fee for location portraits within Christchurch as I love to get out of the studio and I think some folk are more relaxed and happy at a spot they like or that has meaning.

Providing you with a 6x4 inch print is so you get a hard copy to know (by not just looking at the screen) what you may want more reprints of, or to enlarge for the wall in the future. The 6x4 inch prints are also great for most small frames you have lying around and are easy to buy everywhere.

My fee is really good with this flat rate = no hidden costs like many other portrait photographers who charge you a small or free sitting fee then push you to spend up to even thousands for the pictures and that's maybe not even including the digital images.

General Price Guide:

My fee is $345. for a classic at my studio or on location for an environmental head and shoulder portrait. This includes 1 maybe 2 maybe 3 edited high resolution images. I also provide you a 6x4 inch (postcard size) print of every digital image you receive. This will do to get just an amazing head shot of yourself.

For a studio portrait plus an environmental portrait = $545 plus gst. This includes 2 - 5 edited final images. We can shoot this at my studio and then its beautiful suburban surrounds or at a location of your choice. This is a great way to pay just a little more to get an amazing portrait of yourself!

For a studio portrait with two to three outfit changes and different ideas = $545. This includes 2 - 5 edited final images. This is a great way to pay just a little more to get an amazing portrait of yourself!

Extra Info:

Booking - You're very much welcome and I think it's a great idea to make a time to meet up in advance under no obligation so I can help you plan your session in person. If time or distance is not easy than we can chat via phone / email. Upon booking you will be required to pay the full amount anytime prior via internet banking or at the start of our session in cash. I provide a 100% money back cancellation fee. So do not worry if you are not feeling well or the weather is terrible and you need to postpone or cancel. On the day of the photo session we will meet at the location you have chosen and the creative fun will begin. It's important for you to be yourself. A fun and relaxing photo session results in great portraits you can treasure.

What to wear - Wear what you, your family and friends think you look best in. If you're not quite sure bring 2 or 3 tops, ties or extra bling. Go with your vibe. My only thing is no creases in the tops. Tough to photoshop out. Best to check prior and iron if need be. If a crease does appear we can easily iron it here.

Hair and Makeup - Totally up to you. How you like. If you are not sure I can recommend and organise the best makeup artist & hairstylists I know in this town. $150 for makeup or $190 for hair and makeup. You may want to visit your hairdresser / makeup store just prior the shoot for a quick style or feel confident getting a friend or just doing it all yourself.

The session - Expect the entire session to be around half to a good hour but it's so much fun it seems very quick. We chat for a few minutes then jump right into it. We tether to a computer so after a few shots we look at the screen and work out if what you are wearing is the right thing or do we change tops, ties or necklaces and see what looks better. We also check your hair, body, posture, face angles, expressions etc.. and aim to improve if need be. It's quite a cool experience for you. We may be very happy with what we got or we shoot some more till we get the shot. We then sit down on a large monitor and pick our favourites.

After you have left I get on to tweaking your pictures. I start with a crop then colour and exposure balance, clean up dust, hair and marks on clothing,,, take out zits but keep in moles (unless you tell me to). I lessen wrinkles if you like but don’t totally take them out otherwise you don’t look realistic, trust me. The post-production (editing on the computer afterwards) is crucial to have an awesome picture. These days it makes or breaks of what is a good photographer. Some photographers go overboard and you don’t look real but looks like you done it on a terrible skin softening app. Some photographers don’t do anything and that usually typically ends up with you having dark pink skin. I make you look great!

My goal is to provide you with your picture(s) within 72 hours.

Here is a helpful wikihow link that's aimed at business portraits but there is a lot that crosses over to personal portraits. Do take it lightly as if you do turn up feeling rough, I'll still make you look super smooth - How to prepare for a business portrait

Reprints & Enlargements:

You can order reprints and enlargements easily through me for no fee (only what the lab charges for the cost of printing). This is excellent after sales service. So a 6x4 inch reprint = $1, 5x7 inch = $3, A4 (8x12 or 8x10 inch) size print = $10.

If you're after getting great quality photo prints yourself up to 16x12 inch in size then I fully recommend going to Photo & Digital in Addington. You can go in with your digital images on USB or order online.

If you are after really big prints for the walls now or anytime in the future there is Kens Cameras on Victoria street. If you do choose to order at Kens I can meet you there for no fee to see what images you would like printed to what size and what medium as in prints that you can frame, canvas, metal, acrylic etc. Or just pop in yourself as they are very helpful and have samples and sizes and no obligation to get any printing done if your still deciding.
