The Christchurch Lockdown 15.03.2019 15 Photos

So just as Im leaving to pick Skye up I get a text from the school saying that it’s in lockdown. What in the hell does that mean? So I naturally go to find out. There is sign saying don’t come in. Then I get first news from other parents feeding me info of what just happened; 7 people dead, shooting at Mosque, shooters now in Woolston, bomb in a car on Strickland street,,, As soon as I hear shooting at Mosque you know its a religious / raciest hate crime and the kids are fine at school. About 3:30pm we get told to wait in our cars or come into the staff room. Went into staff room where about 100 parents waiting and kids are in their classrooms. We not allowed to see or pick them up. All parents on phones getting latest updates. Now Im thinking I should be photographing this whatever this is. Im getting claustrophobic, anxious. Then I get a call from Getty Images encouraging me to get my camera and get documenting. Thats the motivation I needed. But then Karen was at work and Heidi is in Kindy with her lockdown. I said I can’t. They said just photograph the school whatever anything just something for us to run with..
